MEMOIRABELIA
Memoirs can often appear 'flat' and have less meaning for modern readers. This Blog is about bringing your experiences to life, so that rather than events remaining as significant points in time to you alone -you bring them to life by plotting and developing characters, storyline and conflict-for everyone to share." Below is today's contribution......
'It is summer and I have left the wonders of ‘The Downs’school far behind. I spend every day on the beach. I love the sun and sea air on my body. The sounds of people, their feet shuffle the shingle as they tramp and trudge their furrows between the groynes. The rumbling diesels groan along the Kings Road overlooking the promenade. I spend my time walking along the beach surrounded by the swell and smell of human traffic, the movement of bodies socializing somehow reaffirms that I belong to the human race. I soak up the atmosphere. I am addicted to this taste of freedom.I smell the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked toffee apples in the salt air. Instant hunger pangs are triggered by the sound of ice cream vendors and deckchair merchants as they announce their wares and trudge to and fro across the hot baked shingle.........''from-'A Mother to Kill a Son' In thisexcerpt I am setting the scene, describing Nicky' Fowler's experience as a child.
Question: How would you improve it.......? .Tag your answer or your memoir excerpt to comments........."
