'Post war Brighton, 1945. Nicky Fowler is an illegitimate ‘war baby’ whose real father, a soldier, returns to Canada. His mother gives him up for adoption to an unstable woman (Dolly) and George, her weak and inadequate husband. Dolly treats Nicky as a domestic slave, and beats him with the 'retribution rod' if he slacks. When he finds out he is a bastard, Nicky becomes plagued by a sense of worthlessness.'
I'm trying to set the scene for Nicky's environment and his major trait.from 'A Mother to Kill a Son'-........' Now its your turn-tag your memoir exerpt to comments...........
